Security officers are one of the most despised and dangerous jobs in South Africa. A recent video circulating on social media platforms demonstrates that Securities are not respected and that their lives are constantly jeopardized.
An unlucky incident occurred at Thavhani mall in Thohoyandou, where an unidentified man attempted to stab one of the security guards. The security guard was allegedly attempting to reprimand the man for his bad behaviour in public when he pulled out a sharp object and attempted to stab him. His colleagues came to his aid when security was in jeopardy.
It appeared that the security personnel lacked weapons to defend themselves, so they fought with sticks. When securities do not have protective regalia to fight perpetrators, how can they be expected to keep people safe?.
