BUSTED – Duo arrested after being found with suspected stolen copper cables

Kroonstad Highway Patrol officers arrested two suspects aged 38 and 29 after they were found with suspected stolen copper cables during a Vehicle Check Point (VCP) operation on the N1 on Wednesday (11 May 2022).

It is said that the officers were conducting a VCP operation when a Toyota Quantum stopped before reaching then, the vehicle then immediately made a U-turn.
It was the that the officers immediately followed the vehicle and stopped it, upon searching the taxi cut Transnet Overhead copper cables were found in the vehicle.
The two suspects were arrested ( A male and a female) for possession of suspected stolen property, it is estimated that the cables are worth R68 127-50.
The suspects are set to appear at the Kroonstad Magistrates Court on Friday (13 may 2022).
