Six murder suspects appear in court -North West
Six men aged between 22 and 26 are expected to appear before the Vryburg Magistrate for the first time on Monday, 4 April 2022, for murder.
The suspects’ appearance in court proceeds from an incident in which a lifeless body of Luckyboy Mereekae (30) was found at the corner of Vry and De Kock Street with several stab wounds on Saturday morning, 2 April 2022.
It is said that the suspects were coming from a tavern outside Vryburg when they met Mereekae. Subsequent to an altercation that ensued, the suspects allegedly took out knives and stabbed Mereekae multiple times on the body.
Preliminary investigations are said to have led the police to Huhudi Location where the six suspects were apprehended and weapons used to commit the offense confiscated. At this stage the motive of the murder of Mereekae is still unknown and investigations into the matter still continue.
