8 Suspects arrested following the murder of a “loan Shark”. | Limpopo

8 suspects have been arrested following the murder of a 37 year old woman (Basani Portia Shuma) believed to be a loan shark.

It is said that on Monday police receive a call regarding a mob that intended to burn the woman alive at Salema Village, Limpopo.
It was then that police rushed to the scene and discovered that the mob had tied Shuma to her vehicle and dragged her to her to the bush and when police attempted to search for the victim, the mob then threw rocks at them.
Police then managed to rescue the woman but after a while it was discovered that the woman’s house and car with a combined value of R200 000.
The victim was taken to hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe added by saying”I caution community members who perpetuate acts of vigilantism that the Police will be relentless in hunting them down and bringing them to book. Nobody is above the law and every offence has its own punishment” concluded the General.
The suspects are expected to appear at the  Saselamani Magistrate court soon facing charges of murder, public violence, arson and malicious damage to property cases.
