A detective in Gauteng secured a 48-year-old for unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition. 

The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court sentenced 48-year-old Philani John Mbuyisa to 21-years imprisonment on Tuesday, 19 April 2022 after he was found possessing a firearm and ammunition unlawfully. The suspect was also declared unfit to carry a firearm.
Members of SAPS Johannesburg Central were conducting a crime prevention patrol in August of 2018 when they came across a suspicious vehicle with three passengers in Johannesburg CBD. Upon searching the vehicle the police discovered an unlicensed firearm which belonged to one of the passengers who even failed to produce a license for it and was subsequently arrested. 
He remained in custody. 
This conviction is said to be the result of quality investigation by a detective at SAPS Johannesburg Central Detective Service, Sergeant Tebogo Thage.
