49-year-old suspect arrested for dealing in succulents

Western Cape- It is said that coordinated operations between the SAPS Malmesbury, Kuilsrivier Stock Theft and Endangered Species Units, Cape Nature, Crime Intelligence and DAFF gave positive results on Friday, 18 March 2022 when information about a suspect that was to export succulents from Cape Town was received.
An intelligence led operation was assessed and then a 49-year-old was arrested at Cape Town International Airport for being in possession of two boxes of the endangered succulent plants. 
Following to his arrest, the suspect took the members to a property in Kenilworth where they confiscated additional succulent plants that were aged between 50 and 100-years-old. 
The suspect is to appear in Bellville Magistates court on Tuesday, 22 March 2022 on charges of illegal possession of flora without documentation.
