KZN -9 people were left with serious injuries and one female was killed after a bakkie they were traveling in overturned on the way to Inanda Tea Estate.
Reaction Unit South Africa was called up to the scene on the D827 road after a passing motorist discovered the overturned bakkie.
On arrival they ‘found a extensively damaged white issuzu bakkie lying across the road’.
According to the driver, he fetched 9 passengers from the Buffelsdraai Landfill site where they were searching the garbage for valuables.
Whilst he was transporting the recovered goods his vehicle suffered a blowout and cause the bakkie to overturn several times and passengers who were seated in the bin and cabin were ejected during the somersault.
“A female was found lying face up under the rear left tire and showed no signs of life and was declared deceased”.
The driver along with eight Passengers were treated by paramedics. Several passengers were found lying on the tarmac and along sugar cane plantations and were critically injured and the eThekwini Fire & rescue were called out to assist.
