Suspects transporting illicit cigarettes worth R1,7 Million busted | Limpopo

Limpopo – Two suspects were arrested on Monday morning for dealing with illicit cigarettes.
It is said that police received a tip off about a group of suspects who who were traveling in multiple vehicles transporting illicit cigarettes worth R1,7 Million.
It was then that the SAPS Provincial Tracking team  reacted promptly and intercepted the vehicles and led on a chase.
The suspects then abondoned their 4 vehicles and ran on foot. When the vehicles were searched 130 boxes were found containing illicit cigarettes worth R1,7 Million and confasticated them.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has since applauded the officers for their vigilance and determination that resulted in the success.
 
She also appealed to community members to assist the police with their investigation into the arrest of remaining suspects.
