A Manhunt has been launched for an unknown suspect who raped and killed a 68-year-old woman in Ga-sekororo village, Limpopo.

The elderly woman was discovered dead in front of her house by her 10-year-old grandson who then called for help from community members.

The community alerted SAPS about the incident and on arrival at the scene they started with initial investigations.

Police suspected no foul play as there were no visible injuries on the deceased body.

An intensive investigation was then carried out by the police which included a medical examination that revealed that the deceased was strangled and raped.

An inquest docket has since been opened and the identity of the deceased cannot be revealed to protect the minor.

The acting police commissioner of police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers has since appealed to anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the police in the investigation.
