Man hacked to death then ignited in Piet Retief 

Mpumalanga – the Provincial Commissioner of  the SAPS, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has repremended an incident in which a 31-year-old man was hacked and then ignited by five male suspects on Monday night, 28 March 2022 at Kwa Mgodi area in Piet Retief.
Confirming with the report, it is said that on Monday, at around 19:15 a certain man was at home with his wife and child when a group of five men, furnished with bush knives entered their home. They then held the family hostage before dragging the man outside while the wife and the kid were still closed in. 
It is said that the man was then hacked by the suspects until his lungs gave in. Thereafter, the suspects allegedly pulled his body into a certain rondavel before setting it alight. The five suspects were said to have fled the scene after committing the hideous crime. 
The police at Piet Retief opened a murder case after they were informed about the incident. It is said that the identity of the victim has been revealed by his family as Mr Mxolisi Ndlela and the motive for his death is still unknown. Although the police are proceeding with their investigation they still cannot rule out the possibility that the murder incident could have been whitchcraft related. 
The police urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to call the the Crime Stop number at 086 001 0111 or to send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
