Load reduction has always been one of the most pressing issues that South Africa has to encounter daily. As a result, Eskom and other involved parties have implemented load reduction to “save” electricity.
For the past few months, the county has been in a “Dark Mode”.

Load shedding will escalate to Stage 4 at 10:00 on Tuesday morning, and will last until 05:00 on Thursday, Eskom has announced.

This was after three units of Kendal Power Station, with 1 920MW maximum generating capacity, suddenly tripped.

Eskom is expected to provide further details later.

  • “We sincerely apologise for the situation we find ourselves in. When the integrity of the system comes into question, we have to implement load shedding.

I would like to end by thanking generation colleagues for their hard work.

“We are there to make sure we improve the standard of living for 61 million people in the country, and we are committed as Eskom to do that,” Oberholzer.
