Today the mayor of Tswelopele Municipality appeared in Hoopstad Magistrate’s Court where she was granted bail with her case being postponed till 22 April 2022 for further investigation. 

It is alleged that the Mayor visited several shops belonging to foreigners on 02 February 2022 and claimed that they were selling expired food. She then took items from their shops such as, groceries, vegetables, cosmetics, pampers, petrol cleaners and diesel cleaners. The cost of the items she took are estimated to cost R60 000. 

Five cases of Theft and Crimen injuria were registered and the Mayor, Council Kenalemang Phukuntsi(51) was arrested on 08 April 2022 at Hoopstad Magistrate’s Court and granted bail of R2 000.
