Rape accused sentenced to 20 years in prison

Efforts to address the punishment of sexual offences and Gender Based Violence (GBV) are continuous and perpetrators must be arrested and it must be ensured that justice is served. 
A 20 year imprisonment has been successfully secured for a Kwanobuhle man for raping and assaulting a 5-year-old girl in May 2018 by The Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Gqeberha. 
The accused, Ace Andile Ncetezo who is 23-years-old was the boyfriend of the victims mother at the time she was raped and assaulted.  
It is said that another case of rape was later opened against the accused in August 2019, and he allegedly committed the crime on the same victim. The 2018 case was later withdrawn at the time. 
When the case was opened, the FCS investigating officer D/W/O Sonwabo Teko decided to reopen the 2018 case and investigate it further. 
The accused got arrested in August 2019 for both the 2018 and the 2019 cases. It is said that he was kept in custody until his final court appeal. 
Ncetezo was sentenced to 7 years in prison for assault with the intent to cause grievous  bodily harm and 20 years for rape on the 21 February 2022 (Monday). 
The 7 years imprisonment will run concurrently with the 20 years sentence.
